Dr. Sharmin Aktar, an Early Career Researcher (ECR) in molecular biology, cell biology, and immunology, completed her PhD at Griffith University, focusing on the molecular genetics of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in colorectal cancer. Her research identified key genetic characteristics in CTCs, offering insight into potential immunotherapeutic targets. She brings expertise in clinical sample processing, assay development, and biological data analysis, alongside strong technical skills in immunology and molecular biology techniques, including flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and RT-PCR.
Dr. Aktar has served as an Assistant Professor at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, where she supervised research projects and mentored students in biochemistry and molecular biology. With a track record of high-quality publications and collaborative research, she has contributed to advancing cancer diagnostics and understanding immune regulatory genes. At The Shiddiky Laboratory at Charles Sturt University, Dr. Aktar will focus on developing innovative diagnostic methods and devices aimed at the early detection and management of diseases. Her work will leverage her extensive background in molecular techniques to drive research that addresses critical health challenges, emphasizing translational applications that align with CSU’s commitment to impactful research.
